A new model for high school in Massachusetts

Located on the Lasell University campus in Newton, Felix combines flexible virtual coursework with in-person collaboration, college access, and personalized support. It is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and open to students statewide.

Why Felix exists

Felix comes from the Latin word meaning joyful, successful, and fortunate.

Our goal is simple: create the conditions for students to rediscover the joy of learning and to shape a path that prepares them for college, careers, and life.

The answer for families looking for change

The structure of high school hasn’t changed much in the last 50 years.

But the world has.

Students need more than seat time and standardized pacing. They need flexibility. They need rigor. They need meaningful work that connects to who they are and where they’re going.

True learning goes beyond memorizing facts.
Beyond being confined to a classroom for eight hours.
Beyond moving at a pace that doesn’t fit.

Felix gives students the freedom to move at their own pace, dive deeply into meaningful work, and build the skills that matter beyond graduation.

Built on a proven national model

Felix brings together three powerful forces in education:

  • The mastery-based online model of Khan World School @ ASU Prep (KWS)

  • The dual enrollment pathway experience powered by Arizona State University

  • A university-based learning hub at Lasell University

This model has already demonstrated success with motivated students seeking depth and flexibility. Felix makes it accessible as a tuition-free public school in Massachusetts.

Felix blends flexibility, academic rigor, and real-world preparation. Students complete fully online core academics supported by Massachusetts-certified teachers. They can also earn tuition-free college credit through Arizona State University while still in high school.

Online learning, strengthened by campus connection

Core academics at Felix are completed online through a personalized, self-paced platform supported by certified teachers and weekly live instruction. Students also gather at Lasell for support, services, enrichments, engagement, and to build community on the college campus.

Located in the Michael B. Alexander Science and Technology Center, the hub provides a collegiate setting where students present projects, engage in discussion-based learning, and connect with peers.

Socratic Seminars

Student-led discussions about real-world challenges that strengthen listening, articulation, and critical thinking.

Learning beyond the screen

At Felix, students are not just completing assignments. They are developing confidence and intellectual stamina. They learn from Guides and from each other in:

In-Depth Explorations (IDEs)

Multi-week deep dives into topics students care about, culminating in presentations, papers, media projects, or research.

Wonder Sessions

Interactive, curiosity-driven sessions that explore fascinating questions across disciplines.
